"Every great family has its scandal. The Bush family's scandal is that they funded Hitler and profited from the Holocaust." --John Loftus, 2003, Justice Department War Crimes Prosecutor
Samuel Prescott Bush, grandfather of George H.W. Bush and great-grandfather of George W. Bush helped run the companies that sold 67% of all the arms used on all sides in World War I, earning the title "Merchant of Death." He became a Washington insider as head of the Facilities Division of the U.S. War Industries Board in 1918. Although Samuel P. Bush was investigated after the war, he was allowed to keep his profits.
George Herbert Walker, also grandfather of George H.W. Bush and great-grandfather of George W. Bush was involved in World War I intelligence-gathering for the U.S. Government. Walker co-founded Brown Brothers Harriman, a company that made billions selling weapons to Nazi Germany and financing such projects as the construction of the Auschwitz death camp. He was also one of the founders of the ultra-right U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers, which created the radical John Birch Society.
Prescott Bush, George H.W.'s father and George W.'s grandfather, as Vice-President of Brown Brothers Harriman, helped finance the Nazi war machine and tried to hide his Nazi dealings DURING World War II.
Prescott Bush was also a director of two Nazi front organizations: the Holland-American Trading Company and the Seamless Steel Corporation. In 1934, he became Managing Director of Union Bank, which made over $100 million profit from its dealings on behalf of Nazi Germany.
Federal prosecutor John Loftus said Prescott Bush was "Hitler's banker in America" and should have been tried for treason. In 1942, the U.S. Alien Property Custodian seized the stock of Union Bank for trading with the enemy. Prescott Bush claimed to own only one share, for which he was compensated 1.2 million dollars. He was investigated, but not charged. And, like his father after World War I, was allowed to keep his ill-gotten gains.
The news media knew about Prescott Bush's Nazi connections but did not make an issue of it and he was elected U.S. Senator from Connecticut in 1952.
Prescott Bush was a leader in the eugenics movement and wanted to sterilize 14 million Americans. He helped finance Richard Nixon's political campaigns and talked his golfing buddy Dwight Eisenhower into running for President and selecting Bush business partners (the Dulles brothers) as Secretary of State and Director of the CIA.
George Herbert Walker Bush, aka Poppy, founded Zapata Oil, a suspected CIA-front organization that didn't pay taxes for decades. This was set up while his father's business partner Allen Dulles was head of CIA. George H.W. Bush became head of CIA, the first person from a "front" organization to hold that job. Vice-President George H.W. Bush ran the illegal Iran-Contra operation from the Reagan White House. President Reagan said he didn't remember authorizing it, but he asked the public for forgiveness. Bush said he didn't recall being in the meetings he chaired and later gave Presidential pardons to the other attendees on the eve of their trials.
"There's three things to remember: claim everything, explain nothing, deny everything." ~Prescott Bush, 1966, the Eisenhower Oral History Project, Columbia University
From 1914 until now, the Bushes have been involved with America's spy agencies and with the companies that supplied the personnel and rationale for those agencies to ignite regime changes, revolutions, genocide and torture.
And it was never for ideology. It was strictly for profit.
